Glasgow criminals not surprised by Monaghan’s aquittal.

Glasgow’s criminal underworld was not surprised when convicted drug dealer Ross Monaghan was officially cleared of murder today.

Few people other than cops and the crown ever believed the man had anything to do with the fatal shooting of Kevin ‘Gerbil’ Carroll in the car park of Robroyston’s Asda in January 2010.

Sources close to Gerbil and the Daniel family said before the trial ended that even they believe Monaghan was set up.

They said: “Monaghan’s being fitted up, no one thinks he did it, he’s just the fall guy.

“He’ll probably get a not proven, I’d be surprised if he gets done for it, the guys that done it are in Spain, we all know that.”

After the decision to clear him was announced today the source said: “Aye, I had my money on him walking.”

During the trial Monaghan claimed that eight others were to be blamed for Gerbil’s violent death including a most wanted fugitive, William Paterson, who is rumoured to be hiding in Spain. Continue reading
